Wicklow.Looking to build their dream family home, Fáinche and Donnchadh Murphy were delighted when they came across the perfect site situated in the Co. Wicklow countryside surrounded by stunning mountain views.Planning the design of the 3 bed bungalow themselves, the couple’s main goal was to create a large open plan living area for the family to enjoy. To ensure flexibility of living, the couple opted for double glazed sliding doors to separate the living area from the bedroom block – vaulted ceilings were also included in the design to enhance the space even further.

    P C Henderson has recently partnered up with drop seal manufacturer, Planet, to introduce an acoustic drop seal for sliding doors into its range of products.The innovative seal solution, designed specifically for sliding doors, offers a range of benefits including soundproofing (up to 44dB), light reduction, prevention against unpleasant smells and draught insulation.Suitable for wooden and metal doors, the product is ideal for a wide range of applications where door sealing would be of benefit - such as offices, music rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, nurseries and room dividers.Andrew Royle, Sales and Marketing Director at P C Henderson commented “As more people are working from home during the COVID-19 restrictions, there is a need for quieter atmospheres as people try to juggle family life and work commitments.     P C Henderson, is proud to celebrate its 100th year in business this week - signifying an entire century of high quality manufacturing, product innovation and a dedication to worldwide exporting.Founded by Percy Cecil Henderson on the 24th February 1921, the company has come a long way since its humble beginnings where the business started in an unused loft space of a paint and varnish factory. Fast forward 100 years and the company has offices in the UK, Ireland, Holland and China, exports to over 70 countries worldwide and is firmly positioned as the go to provider for sliding door gear.Speaking about the companies continued success, Trevor Cossins, Managing Director at P C Henderson, commented, “Celebrating a centenary in business is a huge achievement, it puts us amongst a rare group of companies which have truly withstood the test of time and it certainly isn’t something that happens by chance.The company operates out of its 2.9 acre Bowburn based manufacturing plant where it has resided for the last 52 years. Showing no signs of slowing down, the company has achieved record sales, multiple award wins and some of the most successful product launches in its history in the last 3 years alone.“In the late 1920s’ Percy Cecil Henderson established the export side of the business – developing strong relationships in South Africa, New Zealand and China – regions which we still have a strong presence in today.     P C Henderson has held up its annual Christmas tradition and donated a number of Christmas turkeys to The Peoples Kitchen  - a local charity which helps homeless and disadvantaged people in the Newcastle area. In addition to this, team members have also grouped together this year to donate a wide selection of store cupboard essentials to another local charity – Durham Food Bank.Over the past 5 years, P C Henderson has gifted each of its employees with a turkey to enjoy over the Christmas period as well as providing a number of turkeys to local charity – The Peoples Kitchen. This year the company kindly donated numerous turkeys to feed up to 100 people which will be served into hot meals for the homeless and vulnerable to enjoy over the festive period.Team members also kindly came together this year to provide a wide selection of store cupboard essentials to Durham Food Bank. Donations included a range of urgently required items including tinned meat, instant potatoes, vegetables and biscuits as well as a number of items aimed to ensure that the less fortunate can enjoy their special day - including Christmas puddings, cake, chocolate, selection boxes and crackers.Trevor Cossins, Managing Director at P C Henderson, commented “Donating turkeys to the Peoples Kitchen has become an annual tradition at P C Henderson but with the effect that Covid-19 has had on food poverty across the UK – we wanted to go one step further. Our team members were extremely generous in their donations and will undoubtedly go on to support a number of families and individuals in our local area”.Established in 1985, The Peoples Kitchen aims to provide food, friendship and a future to the disadvantaged by offering hot food, warm clothes, a friendly face and support for independent living. The charity relies solely on volunteers to provide a range of services to homeless and disadvantaged people.Durham Food Bank is one of 428 food banks, which is part of the Trussell Trust network, working to reduce poverty and hunger throughout the UK. Trussell Trust forecasted a 61% increase in food parcels required throughout the UK during October to December – equating to six food parcels given out every minute.

The hotel boasts many luxurious features including a fitness spa and wellness centre, a grand ballroom and a signature restaurant which offers an array of international cuisines.
